Sheffield swimmers take the plunge with new pool programme
A Sheffield sports centre is introducing a new swimming programme to encourage more women and children in the city into the pool. Concord Sports Centre, located on Shiregreen Lane, is launching a new swim programme to increase the number of swim lessons and children’s fun sessions available in a bid to get children swimming at an early age. Ladies only sessions are also being introduced plus lunchtime swims everyday from 12 noon for adults at the Sheffield International Venues’ managed facility as it aims to buck the trend of decreasing numbers of swimmers over the past three years. Greg Henshaw, Concord’s operations manager, said: “The fantastic response we’ve had from people taking part in our MEND course has meant there has been a huge increase in the demand for family and children swim sessions and this is something we are happy to provide. “We have also designated women and adult only sessions so everyone, including existing and new members, can benefit from a more structured programme.”
The new pool programme will be launched on Monday 7th April with an Early Morning Swim starting at 7.00am for £3.45.
