Over 50s fitness class takes off at Concord

Concord Sports Centre is launching a fitness class dedicated to people over the age of 50.

The class, which will be run by city specialist Dave Birds, is designed to get people back into exercise with a series of low impact aerobics, toning and fitness sessions.
It is aimed at both men and women over 50, but is open to anyone who wants to take part.

The exercises can help people with existing medical conditions or can act as a preventative measure to help increase resistance to certain conditions linked to ageing.
Dave Birds, a qualified advanced fitness instructor and GP referral consultant at the Sheffield International Venues (SIV)-managed facility, said:

“We want to provide a dedicated class for people over the age of 50 who want to get in shape.

“It may be that some people have fallen out of the habit of exercising or it has got to that point where they feel now is the time to start, and this class is a gentle work out in a supportive environment to get people on the right track.”

The class is free to Fitness Unlimited members and £2 for non-members.
