Concord Sports Centre invests in new disabled facilities

A Sheffield sports centre has further improved access for disabled visitors by installing a range of new facilities.

Concord Sports Centre at Shiregreen has installed an Induction Loop system to enable customers who are deaf or hard of hearing to pick up announcements from the main reception, the health suite reception and its Food Etc café through their hearing aids.

New disabled toilets have also been fitted on every floor of the Sheffield International Venues (SIV) managed facility to make using the venue even easier for people with disabilities.

General manager Ian Hamlet said: “We are committed to ensuring that all of our centre users have a positive experience at Concord and we want to make navigating the facility as easy as possible.

“The investment in new disabled toilets and the Induction Loop system is part of this ongoing commitment to centre users.”

The venue has also recently upgraded its sports hall and gym and installed a third generation (3G) rubber crumb synthetic pitch which is suitable for rugby in addition to sports traditionally associated with all weather surfaces. The pitch is also FIFA registered making it suitable for hosting league competitions.

Concord Sports Centre is open from 7am to 10pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm on Saturdays and 8am to 9pm on Sundays. For further information call 0114 257 0053 or visit www.concordsportscentre.co.uk
