Youngsters sought to ‘pitch’ up at new facility
Sports mad youngsters can make a pioneering new all weather pitch their new league home. Concord Sports Centre at Shiregreen has invested in a rare third generation (3G) FIFA registered rubber crumb synthetic pitch and has vacancies for children’s football leagues. The new Super Sevens pitch is also suitable for adult’s seven-a-side football and rugby training in addition to sports traditionally associated with all weather surfaces.General manager Ian Hamlet said: “The Super Sevens pitch is already proving popular and as a centre in the heart of the community we want to welcome even more local groups and teams to make it their home. The quality and nature of the pitch makes it particularly suitable for leagues because it’s truly all weather.”
The surface is a mock grass effect with sand and rubber crumb and enables traditional studs, blades and trainers to be worn.
