Youngsters and families had fitness fun at Concord Sports Centre’s activity weekend enjoying improved and revamped facilities.
The family open weekend saw mums, dads, teenagers and kids swimming, playing football, performing martial arts, jumping on the bouncy castle, and making use of the indoor sports courts.
The purse friendly weekend priced at £4 for the whole family was to celebrate modernisations and improvements to the Shiregreen facility, which is operated by Sheffield International Venues (SIV).
Concord’s Fitness Unlimited gym has had a major revamp creating a more spacious layout and a new room dedicated to weights and resistance workout. New décor completes the facelift to downstairs gym facilities which are Inclusive Fitness Initiative-accredited.
The poolside changing rooms have also had an overhaul. Old and dated male and female rooms have been replaced by a unisex changing village, with modern team and family cubicles, a vanity area and large shower area.
Richard Apps, general manager for Concord Sports Centre, said: “Our sports facilities at Concord are some of the best in Sheffield, so modernisations to the changing village will increase the public’s perception of the quality we offer.
“The refurbishment will increase usability while still being value for money and shows SIV’s continued commitment to bringing customers some of the best fitness facilities in Sheffield.”
Concord Sports Centre offers a range of fitness classes for all ages and abilities from kids’ cardio sessions to over 50s classes such as Silver Circuits, plus school holiday clubs, kids fitness classes and a Heart Disease Support Group.
