Swimming
At Concord Sports Centre, we have 2 swimming pools.
Our main swimming pool is 25m x 12.5m with a depth of 0.9-1.5m which is ideal for lane swimming. We aim to maintain this pool temperature at around 29.5ºc.
Our second pool, our teaching pool, is 12m x 7m with a depth of 0.6 – 0.9m. We aim to maintain this pool temperature at around 30ºc. This pool is ideal for babies, toddlers and non swimmers.
Children under 4 years must be accompanied in the water at all times by a responsible person of 16 years of age or over. One child to one person. Children under 8 years must be accompanied in the water at all times by a responsible person of 16 years of age or over. Maximum of two under 8’s to one person.

Accessible Pool
Concord Sports Centre is committed to providing facilities for everyone. At the centre we have disabled parking bays, low reception bays, induction loop hearing systems, various formats of print, lift access to every floor, disabled toilets on every floor, IFI accredited equipment in the fitness suite including 20 treadmills and 10 bikes plus a chest press, low rower and shoulder press and the swimming pool offers a pool hoist.
Pool Hire
The pool is available to hire on Sunday evenings 8.00pm - 9.00pm. Please contact the Operations Manager for more information on hiring the pool on 0114 257 0053.

Swim Lessons
 Nationally recognised ASA Scheme which runs through all Sheffield International Venues facilities. You can learn to swim at any age and with our range of lessons and times. All Concord’s instructors are qualified to a minimum of ASA Teaching Standard. Lessons are of consistently high quality to ensure participants of lessons are coached to the best of their ability. Participants are continuously assessed to meet swimming standards set by the ASA.
This is a particularly exciting time in Sheffield swimming as the ASA have introduced a new swimming programme. The old 12 level system has been replaced by a 7 ‘aquatic stage’ programme. After a child has achieved a stage 7, they now have the opportunity of deciding how they want to progress in aquatics having a choice from 5 disciplines and these are; competitive swimming, rookie lifeguard, water polo, diving and syncro.
In the old system the children had no choice but to complete competitive swimming to get all 12 certificates. Concord Sports Centre are able to offer competitive swimming, water polo and rookie lifeguard but are unable to offer diving due to the depth of the pool, however this is available at Ponds Forge, also a SIV venue.

Splish Splash
Every Tuesday and Thursday we hold a parent and toddler session called Splish Splash. The session is ideal for building water confidence at an early age under the guidance of a qualified teacher. Includes a dry based activity where you can join in activities with other parents and toddlers. It’s an ideal way to get your child confident in water and ready for further progression with swim lessons.
Visit the session every Tuesday and Thursday at 12pm - 1.30pm for the water based session. 1.30pm - 2.00pm lunch break. 2.00pm - 3.00pm is the dry based activity session.

SwimFin
SwimFins are now available from the main reception which are designed to develop swim technique, confidence and provide support. They are available to purcashe for £19.99 and when purchased throughout October and November, you will receive a FREE Family Swim available to use at Concord Sports Centre on Saturday and Sunday's Schools Out session until 31st December 2008.
